You’ve Got a Green Light

You’ve Got a Green Light!

written by on the topic of Personal Development on November, 2009

Whenever I am driving down the road, I love looking ahead and seeing a green light. It sure is a good feeling to continue traveling through an intersection without having to stop at the light. On the other hand, it can be extremely frustrating to have to stop at a red light when you are in a hurry. Perhaps the worst is sitting at a green light when nobody ahead of you is moving! This is usually a result of someone not paying attention.

As Christians, many times we are not paying attention. We are “sitting at the light” As Christians, many times we are not paying attention. We are “sitting at the light” when the light is green. Green means “go.” This is the first word of the Great Commission. We are not supposed to be waiting – the light is green! We have been commanded to go.

1) Go to the cross. (Salvation)
2) Go with Christ. (Surrender)
3) Go to the crowds. (Soul winning)

All of us will face some red lights along the roadway of life. If we do not stop at a red light, we will face some serious consequences. No one likes to stop what he is doing, but God’s Word says there are some things that must stop (cease).

1) Sin
2) Strife
3) Self-confidence

There will also be yellow lights along the way. At a yellow light, we must slow down. In Psalm 46:10 we are command to “be still and know that I am God.” Many times we get in too much of a rush. Someone wisely stated the following: “You can’t walk with God and be in a hurry.” If we don’t slow down, we will miss what God is trying to do in our lives.

1) Acknowledge God’s power and presence.
2) Adjust your priorities.
3) Assess your purpose.
4) Accomplish His plan.
