25 Tidbits From 35 Years

written by on the topic of Ladies Only on October, 2010

I gave the following tidbits to the ladies at our 25th National Pastors’ and Workers’ Conference just a few weeks ago. These statements and suggestions are just a few of the things that God has shown me or taught me during our 35 years of ministry. I hope they are a blessing and help to you as you serve our Lord.

  1. No Christian lady ever becomes all that she can be until she has a problem that she can share with God alone.
  2. Troubles and trials are as necessary to our spiritual welfare, just as rain and sunshine are necessary to life. “Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward” (Job 5: 7).
  3. God’s grace can meet every need we have, and His grace is always sufficient for every situation we have in life.
  4. See yourself through the eyes of God.
  5. Friends can make you or break you. Show me your friends, and I will show you your future.
  6. This modern world is full of sensual, sloppy-looking junk! Please help us bring some class and dignity back to our churches and homes.
  7. My life will be an example and a story for someone else to tell to someone else one day.
  8. We all have a race to run. Don’t quit!
  9. Guard your spirit—which is your prevailing attitude.
  10. Be self-motivated. Don’t depend on someone else to motivate you.
  11. Married children still need you! While you want to be sure not to smother, you can still mother.
  12. You will go through seasons of life. “To every thing there is a season” (Ecc. 3:1).
  13. You will suffer from bouts of lonliness.
  14. God made you an original you. Don’t try to be someone else. It doesn’t work!
  15. A holy life is the result of the inward Christ.
  16. Completely surrender your will to the Lord.
  17. Make a big deal over birthdays!
  18. Keep your husband and children first.
  19. 19. Take an active part in the education of your children. Don’t sigh and complain about activities, homework, and sporting events!
  20. Devotions are necessary for the Christian family, even if they are not always enjoyed all the time. Find something that works for your family.
  21. If you want to bring your children up in the way they should go, travel that way yourself once in a while. Don’t forget what it is like to be a kid!!
  22. Be in style! Modesty is always in, but frumpy is not.
  23. Make your home a haven.
  24. Exercise. Watch your weight and diet.
  25. Life is not a dress rehearsal; this is the show!
